Comfy on the tower

After spending about 45 minutes waiting on the Eagles to perhaps make an appearance at the nest, I had decided to call it a day. But, right before the turn onto S. Independence, there they were, on a tower adjacent to some condos. I parked,  got out of the car, and took a few photos, for documentation only. I got back into my car, on the chance that perhaps there might be some bonding/mating but that didn't happen. So, I headed for home.

In the nest! 1.20.18

I was very excited to see the pair in the nest late in the afternoon. One was standing at attention in the nest looking just beautiful while the other seemed to be moving nest material around. The one standing left first. The one remaining hopped out to a nearby branch and seemed to peek around then it also departed.

1.18.18

I shot these Bald Eagles this afternoon. I was an exciting time as I walked 3 holes on the golf course which was closed due to the snow.
A pretty youngster.

1.13.18

Much action today. The Eagles were bringing in nest material, fishing, hunting (squirrel), and interacting on different towers.  At one point, an eagle (the male I think) plucked off a teenie pine branch from the nest tree and hopped into the nest to place it. It's nice to have a fresh nest!

1.2.18 Eagle on Ice!

I watched this Bald Eagle swoop down from a tree and snag this fish. We've had a cold snap and the river was mostly frozen.

December 1. Canada Goose for lunch

I spotted this Bald Eagle in a tree as I was about to leave the Honey Bee area.
I soon realized why it was there; a dead Canada Goose lay close to the road. As I watched the eagle, it suddenly went down to feed on the goose. The proximity of the goose and eagle to the busy road made me very nervous.

I spent about 45 minutes watching the eagle feed, back off, fly a tad, feed again, etc.  I realized it was a special opportunity. I also had been hoping for some shots with Fall colors and eventually this Eagle moved into a great position for that.

The Eagle left for good at that point. I walked across the street and moved what remained of the dead goose further onto the golf course property.
