This is a record of my observations of Bald Eagles on the North Landing River at Honey Bee Golf Course in Virginia Beach, VA. This blog is about a new Bald Eagle pair who gained control of the nest of banded Bald Eagle "HK" following his death on September 9, 2017.

January 30
Cozying up this afternoon in the nest.
Most Bald Eagle pairs in our area have laid eggs by mid-February. Virtually all pairs have laid by the end of February. Egg watch is underway!!!

Comfy on the tower
After spending about 45 minutes waiting on the Eagles to perhaps make an appearance at the nest, I had decided to call it a day. But, right before the turn onto S. Independence, there they were, on a tower adjacent to some condos. I parked, got out of the car, and took a few photos, for documentation only. I got back into my car, on the chance that perhaps there might be some bonding/mating but that didn't happen. So, I headed for home.
In the nest! 1.20.18
I was very excited to see the pair in the nest late in the afternoon. One was standing at attention in the nest looking just beautiful while the other seemed to be moving nest material around. The one standing left first. The one remaining hopped out to a nearby branch and seemed to peek around then it also departed.

1.18.18
I shot these Bald Eagles this afternoon. I was an exciting time as I
walked 3 holes on the golf course which was closed due to the snow.
A pretty youngster.

1.2.18 Eagle on Ice!
I watched this Bald Eagle swoop down from a tree and snag this fish. We've had a cold snap and the river was mostly frozen.
